Replacing your 1986-1996 4.3L
There is now a NEW GM direct replacement on marine engines for the older 1986-1992 Mercruiser, OMC, and Volvo. It can be easily identified by the 12 bolt pattern intake manifold. This is a non-Vortec Marine Engine, non-balance shaft design, but with roller camshaft, fuel pump pad, and 1 piece rear main seal. The long block marine engines includes no intake, flywheel, balancer, or water pump.Replacing your 1996-up 4.3L (Vortec)
In 1996 GM went with Vortec engine. It is easily recognized by the 8 bolt pattern intake manifold as compared to the pre-1996 with a 12 bolt pattern intake manifold. The 1996 & up 4.3L engines must also use an electric fuel pump. The 4.3L engine is offered with and without an intake manifold. The engine with the manifold is available with a 4 BBL or a 2 BBL intake and also includes the water pump.4.3L Vortec Power Package
The power package comes with a complete ignition and fuel system. The reason behind the Par Pac Power Packages were to address the customers who have a pre-Vortec (12 bolt intake) engine but want to upgrade to the newer style, better performing Vortec engine. Since the pre-Vortec engines utilized a different fuel and ignition system, these components are included with the power package while the components that you can re-use from your pre-Vortec are left out which saves you money in the end. Built only on NEW GM Marine Engine Blocks, the partial power packages are manufactured to the same exacting standards as complete engine packages.4.3L Power Packages 2 Bbl Carb
